Primary Care Specializing in You!
Karina (Kari) is a board certified family nurse practitioner. She began her career in nursing in 1993 after graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida International University. Motivated by the faculty at FIU and the focus on higher learning, she immediately enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner Masters program at UF. Upon graduating in 1996, she began a career that included roles as a primary care provider, women’s health provider, researcher, and emergency care/urgent care provider.
A continued interest in higher learning but with a focus on clinical outcomes motivated Kari to enroll again at the University of Florida and she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2012. Her primary focus was on improving clinical outcomes in primary care, including reducing non emergent demand on hospital emergency rooms and improving patient access to primary care. She worked with volunteer medicine programs and provided free health care to underserved Brevard County citizens.
Kari is a lifelong Brevard county resident, and she and her daughter enjoy an active lifestyle, including taekwondo, where they both earned the rank of second degree black belt. They also regularly compete in dressage with their horses Madison and Paris.
Kari is truly amazing! I owe my new found health to her. I can tell that she really cares about me in everything she does. Any time that I need to see her she goes out of her way to get me in as quick as possible. One time I was really sick and I called her to let her know. She told me to come in right away. When I arrived her office was full of patients but her staff was expecting me and I hadn't even made an appointment. I can tell you that not many doctors will do that.
Dr. Simonson is truly amazing! When I tell her how I'm doing she listens attentively and is very patient with me. She is always smiling and sets me at ease while she's checking my vitals. It's nice to have someone who shows she really cares about me.
